General Rental information

The lessee and the driver must be in possession of a full, valid driver's license for at least one year and present it together with an identity card or passport while receiving delivery of the vehicle. Furthermore, the following conditions apply depending on the issuing country of the driving licence.

EU Driving Licences
Valid driving licenses of all EU countries are accepted.

All Other Licences
Driving Licences printed with non-Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, and Cyrillic) must be accompanied by a valid International Driving Permit.

For driving licenses from countries not part of the Geneva/ Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (e.g.., China), an official translation of the license in English must be presented with the original license.

 

Certain tariffs and conditions apply for Non-Danish residents only. These tariffs and conditions are not available to customers residing in Denmark due to taxation regulations. Please remember to select your "Permanent country of residence" when booking a rental car.

 

Renter must present documentation for his or her registered address at pick up.

Tax free

If you live abroad and are defined as a foreigner, you can rent a tax-free car. Note that you must be able to document your residence in one of the following ways:

• Foreign address and foreign driving license

• Foreign address and international credit card issued by a foreign bank / credit card company

• Foreign address and foreign passport

If you are resident in Denmark, you may only drive cars with a Danish tax. Therefore, you can only make a reservation with a limited mileage. We reserve the right to correct the price and terms of your reservation when you pick up the rental car if the information about your residence is incorrect.

Age Restrictions

Certain regulations apply related to minimum age and possession of driver's license which can be found during the booking process depending on the booked vehicle. Basically, the minimum age for every driver is 20 years (having held the driving license for at least 1 year). A deviation from the minimum age is possible depending on the vehicle.

 


In Denmark, the following rules apply for the minimum age and possession of a driver's license:

A Young Driver Surcharge applies for drivers under 26 years.

Please note that, you must be able to present a physical driving license and that a digital version is not accepted in this connection.

Tariff information

 

 

General

All credit cards from internationally recognized credit card companies - such as American Express, Eurocard/Mastercard, Diners Club, Visa and debit cards (Visa Electron, Mastercard) are acceptable as payment methods whereas any third -party credit cards or prepaid cards are not accepted. The payment method must have been issued in the name of the driver. This must be presented at the time of vehicle pick-up and be valid at this time.

Debit cards are only accepted for the following vehicle groups: A, V, E***, C*** and I***.

 

Danish Car rental is provided by Sixt, therefore Forbrugsforeningskort (Danish credit card) is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card and driver lincense.

Cash Payment and payment by checks is not accepted. We also do not accept digital solutions such as Apple Pay, MobilePay or other digital payment solutions. Please note that PIN code is required when paying by credit card.

An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security.

All renters with a CPR number, will be checked in the Danish Debtor Registry ("Debitor Register") and any form of registration that illustrates a bad payment history of the renter / payer, or missing result upon search, will result in Sixt rejecting the possibility of rental. Sixt will also check whether you are registered with an address in Denmark or abroad in order to determine from which fleet the rental car shall be taken from. All lookups in the Debtor Registry are in accordance with the rules in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Tenants with either c/o address or a secret address may also be rejected. If the tenant's secret address can be documented by either health insurance certificate or other documentation, we can exceptionally disregard from this.

Vehicle refueling

All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled prior to return to Sixt, otherwise the current prices per liter of petrol or diesel will be charged in addition to a refueling fee. If desired, the vehicle will be refueled according to currently available conditions after returning it to the station.

Electric Vehicles must be returned 80% charged. In case the vehicle is not charged sufficiently additional costs will apply.

 

Alternatively, you may purchase a tankful of fuel at the time of rental at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations and return the tank empty. No refunds will be given for unused fuel.

Alternatively, you may book a tanking service for a fee and return the tank empty. The refueled liters will be charges at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations additionally to the prior noted tanking service fee.

Special rental information when booking Prepaid rates

Prepaid tariff - Pay now

When booking at a prepaid rate, the payment will be charged along with the total rental price (incl. booked extras and charges) prior to the rental. The driver and mode of payment shall be finalised at the time of reservation and cannot be changed. A refund shall not be issued for non-collection, vehicle being collected late or returned early.

Changing booking

A booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (on availability) in return for an alteration charge of 149.00 DKK. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this alteration leads to a lesser rental cost.

Cancellation

A booking can be cancelled before the start of the rental. In the event of cancellation, the payment already made towards the rental will be paid back subject to a cancellation charge. The cancellation charge shall be the amount of the rental charge (including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. No-show
In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time, the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.

To hire one of the following vehicles P*** and X*** customers must present two credit cards: 

 

Protection conditions

 

Third Party Insurance (TI)
Protection coverage for the vehicle includes Third Party Liability with coverage for personal injuries up to a total of 124.000.000 DKK and material damages up to 25.000.000 DKK. Excluded from the protection is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All protection as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's license at the time of the event giving rise to claim.

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)
Loss Damage Waiver is an all-risk insurance that partially removes the tenant's liability of the vehicle in case of damage. The deductible is 5,000 DKK (excluding car group X ***: 15,000 DKK) per damage.


Tenant is furthermore obliged to pay Sixt for deprivation days (up to a maximum of a total of 10,000 DKK). Deprivation days are defined as days Sixt cannot rent the vehicle due to damage caused by the tenant, unknown counterparty or due to theft of the vehicle.


LDW is mandatory for all Danish leases.

Top Cover LDW (BE)

If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Top Cover LDW to reduce the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.


If Top Cover LDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 3,000.00 DKK per damage Non-Waiverable Responsibility for special cars (X***) is 12.500 DKK and minibuses (F***) 5.000 DKK pr. damage.

Super Top Cover LDW (BF)
If LDW is already accepted, the renter can choose Super Top Cover LDW to reduce the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.

If Super Top Cover LDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 0 DKK pr. damage. For long-term rental (min. 30 days) the Non-Waiverable Responsibility is reduced to 1.000 DKK pr. damage.

Non-Waiverable Responsibility for minibuses (F***) is 3.000 DKK pr. damage.
Super Top Cover LDW (BF) cannot be chosen for the car group X*** and Truck/Delivery Vans on long-term rentals. 

 


Tire and Windscreen Coverage (TG)

Tire and Windscreen Coverage provides cover against the consequences of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and back window.

 

If TG is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and back window.

If TG is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 0.00 DKK. Rims and wheel caps are from January 2020 and onwards also covered by the TG insurance.

Personal Accident Protection (PAP)

By taking out personal accident protection coverage can also be extended to cover the consequences of an accident.


By taking out PAP the limit of liability is:

  • 1,000,000.00 DKK for invalidity

  • 120,000.00 DKK for decease

  • 20,000.00 DKK for medical costs

 

Super Personal Accident Protection (SPAP)
Personal Accident Protection Incl. Baggage covers the same as Personal Accident Protection along with belongings transported in the vehicle up to 20.000 DKK. Special valuables (jewelry, cash, etc.) are not covered by this protection. The protection does not apply if luggage or belongings are stolen from the vehicle.

 

Roadside Assistance
During the rental period, you can get roadside assistance in the event of technical breakdowns and without the purchase of additional insurance. Technical breakdown is described as i.e. engine failure or factory failure.

Please note breakdowns caused by tenants or counterparties are not covered by the free roadside assistance and will be subject to a flat fee.


If you want to be insured against non-technical breakdowns, you have the option of purchasing an extended road assistance insurance, called BC. Examples of non-technical issues:

  • Towing of a vehicle (accidentally)

  • Incorrect or missing fuel

  • Lack of power on electric car

  • Broken or lost car keys

  • Punctures and /or damage to tires (is, however, covered by the purchase of Glass and Tire Insurance *)

  • Discharged battery due to light on, or similar.

  • Opening of locked door

 


Extended Road Assistance (BC)
Road Protection Plus is an extra protection that can be accepted upon picking up the vehicle. This covers the renter's expenses in case of the above in connection with Roadside Assistance.

 

Foreign use (UF)
Foreign use is a supplementary insurance, which is selected when making the booking or at the pickup branch itself, and which covers a replacement car and Loss Damage Excess waiver insurance when driving abroad. Please note, that any insurances are not valid for use abroad if the UF insurance is not selected.

Cross Border Rentals & Territorial Restrictions*
 

Cross Border Rentals are not allowed to the following countries: Great Britain, Moldova, Belarus, Cyprus, Iceland, Malta, Albany, Israel, Iran, Iraq, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Russia, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, and Corsica.

In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all protections lose their validity.

 

Charges when traveling abroad
For trips abroad, an additional fee of 50 DKK per day (max 200 DKK) is charged. All trips abroad are to be requested at the Sixt station and when making the booking online.

Extras
Accessories are bookable without obligation and subject to availability.

 

Sixt Fast Track
Skip waiting and avoid queues; Sixt Fast Track offers you the possibility of a contactless vehicle collection and return at selected Sixt stations. Please note that the service is subject to a fee.

One-Way Rentals
One-way rentals within Sixt locations in Denmark are allowed under conditions depending on tarif.
All international One-Way Rentals are on request. Please contact the local rental station.
In the
case of unannounced and unauthorized one-way rentals, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee.

BMW Guaranteed
On request, we can provide you with a vehicle from the desired manufacturer for a fee. Only available for selected vehicle groups at specific stations. 

 


Navigation system
Navigation systems are available subject to a fee.

Baby and child seats
Baby seats, child seats and booster seats are available subject to a fee.

Winter tires and ski box are available subject to a fee.

 

Delivery & Collection
Deliveries and collections are available at the local rental station subject to a fee.
Out of Opening Hours no Delivery/Collection Service is offered.

 

230V Charge Cable
A 230V Charge Cable is available subject to a fee.

 


Charging Cable 3-1
A Charging Cable 3-1 is available subject to a fee.

 

 


Other Fees and Taxes
 

Premium Location Fee

A premium location fee occurs for rentals at airport and train stations. At Copenhagen Airport the premium location fee is per recurring invoice.

Out of Hours
Out of opening hours service is available at selected stations. In this case, an additional charge applies for the provision of the service.

Smoking in vehicle
All Danish Sixt cars are non-smoking cars. If a car needs additional cleaning/smell-removal caused by smoking or from others, a fee will b
e added to the invoice.

Flexi Return Guarantee
Plans can change. As a flexible mobility partner, we are happy to adapt to your plans. Thanks to our Flexi Return guarantee, you have the freedom to return the vehicle at any time to an authorized Sixt station, regardless of the rental agreement.

If your plans change during your hire period, let us know by telephone on (+45) 32 48 11 00 or in person at any of our stations, and our employees will amend your rental contract. By doing this, we can adapt to your changed plans. This service is, of course, free of charge for you.

Flexi Return Guarantee in the tariff Pay later
If you return your vehicle earlier than agreed in the rental contract, we will charge the rental price according to the rental contract. You will receive a partial discount for the unused rental days.

Flexi Return Guarantee in the tariff Pay now
When booking at a prepaid rate, a refund shall not be issued for returned early. For further information please refer to the section Prepaid Tariff - Pay now.

Flexi Late Return in both tariffs (Pay later & Pay now)
If you return the vehicle later, without notifying us, we will bill you a service fee for the Flexi Return Service. This fee applies in addition to any extra days which might incur due to the rental extension.

Flexi Return Location in both tariffs (Pay later & Pay now)
If you return the vehicle to a station other than that agreed in the rental contract, the Flexi Return location will incur a service fee of 150.00 DKK if we have not been informed of the changes to the rental contract in advance.

With our Flexi Return guarantee, you will always have maximum flexibility and cost-efficiency when driving.

 

External insurance
Sixt has the right to invoice the tenant a fee of 1,000 DKK incl. VAT for handling damages through an external insurance company.

VAT

All rates are inclusive of VAT (25% if VAT incurs).
